KARACHI, Jan. 23 -- Six suspected robbers were encounter in an alleged police encounter in Pak Colony on Thursday night, officials said.

South DIG Syed Asad Raza said a police team, acting on a tip-off, raided a hideout of criminals. The suspects reportedly opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate. After the exchange, six suspects were dead, and two policemen sustained bullet injuries.
