Pakistan, Aug. 27 -- Sindh has ordered private schools to immediately strengthen fire safety measures across the province. The directive follows the deaths of 14 newborns in a fire at Islamabad's PIMS. Officials said the measures aim to protect students, teachers and school staff.
The School Education and Literacy Department issued the instructions through its private institutions directorate. Schools must install working fire alarms, smoke detectors and suitable extinguishers. Authorities also ordered regular testing and maintenance of all firefighting equipment.
