Pakistan, July 4 -- Severe riverbank erosion along the Indus and Chenab rivers has intensified in parts of Punjab, destroying farmland, homes, and infrastructure. Residents say the worsening erosion is forcing families to leave their villages as the rivers continue advancing. The affected communities are urging authorities to take immediate measures to prevent further damage.
Residents of Bait Pararah and Bait Diwan said hundreds of acres of agricultural land have already been washed away. Several homes have also collapsed into the rivers as erosion continued along the riverbanks. Furthermore, standing crops, including sesame, sugarcane, mung beans, and fodder, have suffered extensive damage.
