Pakistan, July 8 -- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed Qatari mountaineer Sheikha Asma Al Thani as Pakistan's brand ambassador for mountain tourism. The announcement came after her successful summit of Nanga Parbat, the ninth-highest mountain in the world. The mountain, located in Gilgit-Baltistan, is known for its extreme difficulty and deadly conditions.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister congratulated Sheikha Asma on her achievement. He praised her for her courage and determination. "Her feat reflects the deep friendship between Pakistan and Qatar," he noted. The government hopes her role will attract global attention to Pakistan's natural beauty and adventure tourism potential.
