Pakistan, June 29 -- Former Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina has announced that she intends to return to her homeland later this year, nearly two years after leaving the country amid political unrest.
Hasina stepped down and left Bangladesh in August 2024 following weeks of large-scale student-led protests and mounting pressure on her government. She subsequently travelled to India, where she has remained since her departure.
In a recent interview during her self-imposed exile, the former premier said she plans to return to Bangladesh before the end of the year despite the political and legal challenges she may face.
