NEW YORK, June 17 -- Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi visited the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Wednesday and commended Pakistan's diplomatic mission for its efforts in promoting dialogue, multilateral cooperation and the peaceful resolution of disputes.

According to a statement issued by Pakistan's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Afridi visited the UN headquarters at the invitation of Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad.

During the visit, Ambassador Ahmad briefed the former cricketer on Pakistan's engagement at the United Nations, including its role in advancing multilateralism, encouraging diplomacy and contributing to international peace and security.
