Pakistan, Sept. 11 -- Veteran politician and parliamentarian Mahmood Bashir Virk has died at the age of 89. The senior PML-N leader represented NA-77 in the latest general election. His death marks the loss of a seasoned parliamentarian from Gujranwala. Virk had served as a member of the National Assembly five times. He also held the position of federal law minister.

Virk had spent several days receiving treatment at a hospital in Lahore. His family will hold his funeral tomorrow in his ancestral village, Kamu Workan. The village lies near the Gujranwala area associated with his family. His long political career included several electoral victories across different constituencies.
