Pakistan, June 29 -- The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced a nationwide bank holiday on Wednesday, July 1, during which banks will remain closed for public transactions. Banking services for customers will be suspended, although employees will report to work as usual. The holiday also applies to development financial institutions and microfinance banks.

According to the SBP, all commercial banks across Pakistan will remain closed for customer dealings on July 1. Public transactions, including over-the-counter banking services, will not be available during the bank holiday. The central bank said the closure is part of its annual banking schedule.
