Pakistan, July 16 -- The cause of death of acclaimed actor Sam Neill has been confirmed as pneumonia, providing clarity after his family earlier announced his passing without revealing further medical details. Neill died in Australia on Monday at the age of 78, while his family confirmed he was cancer-free at the time of his death.

According to his longtime agent, Philip Grenz, Neill developed pneumonia after successfully overcoming stage-three non-Hodgkin lymphoma through CAR-T therapy. The actor had publicly shared his cancer journey in his 2023 memoir and later revealed that genetic treatment had left him free of the disease earlier this year.
