Pakistan, Aug. 5 -- Russia launched a major missile and drone attack on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, killing at least 15 people and injuring 27 others. The overnight assault triggered widespread explosions and fires across the city.

According to Ukrainian officials, more than 30 explosions were heard in Kyiv during the attack. Air raid sirens also sounded across the capital and surrounding areas as residents sought shelter. The city's mayor said a large warehouse was destroyed in the strike. Rescue teams continued searching through the rubble because several people were believed to be trapped.
