Pakistan, Aug. 5 -- Qatar said mediators have made progress in efforts to facilitate talks between the United States and Iran. The development comes amid tensions over the Strait of Hormuz and regional security concerns.

Qatar Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari said diplomatic contacts had reached advanced stages. He said Qatar, Pakistan, and Oman were coordinating efforts and exchanging draft proposals between Washington and Tehran.

A senior Pakistani security official said Islamabad was engaging both sides to encourage dialogue. He added that Pakistan's main objective was to help establish communication between the two countries.
