Pakistan, Sept. 28 -- The Pakistan Stock Exchange closed in negative territory on Monday, with the benchmark 100 Index losing 339 points. The index settled at 170,425 points after a volatile trading session. The decline came on the first trading day of the business week.

During the session, the PSX 100 Index reached an intraday high of 171,126 points. It later dropped to a low of 170,120 points. The difference reflected continued movement throughout the trading session.

Trading activity covered shares of 569 listed companies during the day. Of these, shares of 181 companies recorded gains by the market close. Meanwhile, 267 companies ended the session with losses.
