Pakistan, Sept. 27 -- The district administration has constituted an investigation committee after a patient undergoing procedure at the dialysis ward of Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, Mian Channu, tested positive for HIV in an initial ELISA screening. According to the Khanewal Health Department, the patient's sample has been sent to a laboratory in Multan for a confirmatory PCR test. Officials said the case cannot be conclusively diagnosed as HIV/AIDS until the PCR report is received. The patient is being provided the necessary medical care, facilities and counselling in accordance with established medical protocols, the department said.
