Pakistan, Aug. 16 -- Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and widespread destruction caused by a powerful earthquake in Indonesia.

He conveyed condolences to President Prabowo Subianto, the Indonesian people and bereaved families, while praying for the injured and those affected by the disaster.

Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan stands with the people of Indonesia during the difficult period and wished them strength, resilience and a swift recovery.

Meanwhile, rescuers continued searching through debris on Saturday after the 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Indonesia's eastern Flores island.
