Pakistan, Sept. 28 -- Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has demanded relief on petroleum prices from the government. He warned that the party could resume its long march if the government fails to provide relief.
Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Hafiz Naeem said JI had only paused its protest. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's assurance led the party to suspend the march temporarily. He added that JI would hold direct talks with the prime minister after his return.
Hafiz Naeem said his party had not abandoned its position during the pause. He warned the government not to view the peaceful protest as a sign of weakness. He said JI would decide its next move after receiving a response from the prime minister.
