Pakistan, Aug. 8 -- The Pakistani short film 'Permanent Guest,' which highlights child sexual abuse, will be showcased at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in Canada. The film features well-known actors like Rasti Farooq, Nadia Afghan, Salman Shahid, Ali Tahir, and Hiba Zahra. It brings attention to a sensitive issue rarely portrayed in South Asian cinema.
Written and directed by Sana Jafri, who has also worked as co-producer and casting director on the film Joyland, 'Permanent Guest' tells the story of 26-year-old Fateen and her mother Yasmin in Lahore. Their lives change when Fateen's 70-year-old uncle Shabbir arrives, reopening old wounds and creating tension within the family.
