Pakistan, Feb. 21 -- Pakistan has warned that the United Nations liquidity crisis is undermining peacekeeping operations, affecting patrols, mobility, and field presence. Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said this reduces mandate delivery, civilian protection, deterrence against violence, and safety of peacekeepers. The statement was delivered at the opening of the Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations.

The ambassador emphasized that UN peacekeeping remains essential for international peace and security. Pakistan has contributed over 250,000 personnel to 48 missions across four continents for more than six decades. He paid tribute to 182 Pakistani peacekeepers who sacrificed their lives under the UN flag.
