Pakistan, Sept. 13 -- Pakistan has urged the UN Security Council to strengthen its counterterrorism framework and close gaps in the existing sanctions system. Speaking at a Security Council debate, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad called for a stronger and forward-looking global response to terrorism. The session marked 25 years since the September 11 attacks and reviewed changes in the terrorist threat. He also paid tribute to the victims, including seven Pakistanis, and expressed solidarity with the United States.
