Pakistan's nuclear energy generation reached 21.7 terawatt-hours (TWh) in 2024, marking a new record. However, the World Nuclear Industry Status Report 2025 said solar energy outshined nuclear power in efficiency and cost. The report warned that rising prices and inefficiencies were forcing Pakistani consumers to shift toward solar.

Pakistan now operates six nuclear reactors with a combined capacity of 3.3 gigawatts. Nuclear power supplied 17 percent of the grid in 2024, up from 16.2 percent a year earlier.
