Pakistan, Aug. 4 -- Pakistan's Energy Minister Awais Leghari said the International Monetary Fund has not allowed cheaper electricity during specific hours. He said the government continues negotiations because the proposal could increase electricity consumption and improve energy affordability.

Leghari made the remarks during the Battery Storage Flexibility 2026 conference in Islamabad. According to the minister, discussions with the IMF have continued for several months. He said the government remains committed to securing approval for the proposal.
