Pakistan, Aug. 12 -- Pakistan is celebrating another record year of remittances. Overseas Pakistanis sent home nearly US$ 38 billion during the last fiscal year, the highest annual inflow in the country's history. At a time when merchandise exports remain around US$ 33 billion and the economy continues to face external financing pressures, these inflows have become an economic lifeline. They support millions of households, strengthen foreign exchange reserves and provide stability during difficult economic times.

There is every reason to celebrate this achievement. Overseas Pakistanis have consistently supported their families and the national economy, and their commitment deserves recognition.
