Pakistan, July 9 -- Pakistan's maritime sector has recorded significant progress, with the country's major ports improving their positions in global rankings following a series of reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency and competitiveness, according to Maritime Task Force Chairman Iftikhar Rao.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Rao said nearly 80 percent of global trade is conducted through sea routes, making the development of Pakistan's maritime economy a national priority.
