ISLAMABAD, Oct. 7 -- Pakistan has launched a major initiative to upgrade its early flood warning and weather forecasting systems under the World Bank-funded Integrated Flood Resilience Adaptation Project (IFRAP). The initiative, titled Modernisation of Hydromet Services of Pakistan (MHSP), aims to strengthen the country's ability to predict extreme weather events and manage disaster risks more effectively.

The project focuses on enhancing the technical capacity of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) to collect, analyse, and share accurate hydrometeorological data.
