Pakistan, Aug. 14 -- Pakistan is celebrating its 79th Independence Day with national pride and traditional enthusiasm, renewing its commitment to the ideals of the Pakistan Movement and a prosperous welfare state.

The celebrations began with gun salutes in Islamabad and provincial capitals, while mosques held special prayers after Fajr for peace, unity, stability and prosperity across the country.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir jointly inaugurated Yadgar-e-Fatah in Islamabad, commemorating Pakistan's military victory during the May 2025 conflict.
