Pakistan, April 4 -- The Government of Pakistan has finalized a technology-driven petrol subsidy program aimed at providing targeted relief to low-income consumers affected by rising global fuel prices. The initiative uses a dedicated mobile application to ensure subsidies reach motorcyclists, rickshaw drivers, and other vulnerable commuters, moving away from blanket subsidies that often benefited higher-income groups.
The scheme, developed jointly by the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Information Technology, and the National Information Technology Board (NITB), allows users to register and track their fuel allocations digitally.
