Pakistan, Oct. 9 -- Pakistan were held to a goalless draw by Afghanistan in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifier at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad, on Thursday, despite dominating possession and creating multiple scoring chances. The hosts were left frustrated after Otis Khan missed a crucial second-half penalty that could have secured them a much-needed win.

Throughout the match, Pakistan maintained control and pressed forward consistently, benefiting from Afghanistan's visible fatigue following their delayed arrival in Islamabad just a day before kickoff. Despite their lack of energy, the Afghan side showed defensive discipline, blocking several goal attempts and relying on counterattacks to test Pakistan's defence.
