Pakistan, May 12 -- Pakistan is considering increasing imports of oil and gas from Russia amid the ongoing crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Pakistan's ambassador to Russia Faisal Niaz Tirmizi. He said the disruption in the key shipping route has raised concerns for Pakistan's energy security. The statement comes as Islamabad explores alternative energy sources to reduce reliance on Gulf supplies.

Tirmizi noted that Pakistan currently produces only about 10 percent of its energy needs domestically. The remaining demand is met through imports, mainly from Gulf countries.
