Pakistan, Aug. 17 -- Pakistan Petroleum Limited has announced the country's first successful offshore gas discovery after the Dolphin X-1 well in the Sarani block produced around 950,000 standard cubic feet daily.

The discovery in Sujawal marks a major development for Pakistan's exploration sector and could encourage further searches for hydrocarbons in shallow offshore and near-shore areas.

Dolphin X-1 became the first successful gas discovery from the Chiltan Formation of the Lower Indus Basin. PPL said the find significantly adds to Pakistan's domestic hydrocarbon potential.
