Pakistan, Oct. 2 -- Talks between Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the proposed Auto Policy 2026-2031 remained inconclusive. Sources said the IMF raised objections to certain provisions in the draft policy. The discussions are part of Pakistan's ongoing IMF programme reviews. These include the 37-month, $7 billion Extended Fund Facility approved in September 2024. The talks also cover a separate $1.4 billion Resilience and Sustainability Facility review.

A successful review could unlock around $1 billion under the EFF programme. The RSF review could release another $200 million for Pakistan. Therefore, the two reviews could provide combined financing of around $1....
