Pakistan, Oct. 11 -- BUENOS AIRES- OpenAI and Sur Energy have signed a letter of intent for a massive $25 billion data center project in Argentina, the government announced Friday - a move that could transform the country into a regional hub for artificial intelligence infrastructure.
According to a government statement, the planned facility would have a capacity of up to 500 megawatts, making it one of the largest AI computing centers in Latin America. The project will be structured under Argentina's RIGI tax incentive scheme, which offers favorable terms to attract large-scale investments. Officials said the initiative would be "one of the largest technology and energy infrastructure projects in Argentina's history."
