Pakistan, Sept. 13 -- The debate over creating new provinces in Pakistan could take six to eight months, Prime Minister's Adviser Rana Sanaullah said. Speaking to senior journalists in Lahore, he said Parliament would discuss the issue if a proposal formally reached the house. He added that lawmakers could also consider new administrative units or local government elections.

Rana Sanaullah said supporters of the new provinces project may have held discussions with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. However, he clarified that the PML-N had not initiated the proposal.
