Pakistan, Sept. 24 -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's brief US visit has highlighted growing strains in relations with Washington. Netanyahu is expected to spend less than eight hours in New York for the UN General Assembly. His schedule does not include a meeting with US officials.

Netanyahu's office said he would meet nine world leaders during the visit. Five of those leaders are from Latin American countries. Israel has sought closer ties with several countries as relations with European partners face growing tensions.
