Pakistan, Aug. 30 -- Nepal resumed search and rescue operations after a weather-related suspension as authorities continued searching for nearly 3,000 missing people. A devastating flood killed at least 669 people in Nepal and seven in China's Tibet region. The disaster followed a glacier collapse that sent rocks, ice, mud and debris through mountain rivers.
The flood destroyed buildings, bridges and power stations across the affected region bordering Tibet. Nearly 2,426 people remain missing in Nepal, while another 554 are unaccounted for in Tibet's Gyirong County. Among those missing are at least 540 foreign nationals, including many Hindu pilgrims from India.
