Pakistan, Sept. 1 -- The National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) on Monday called for swift, transparent and merit-based investigations, effective prosecution and timely justice in every case involving violence against women and girls.

Chairperson Noureen Bano Lehri, who chaired a high-level meeting with senior police officials from across the country to review the gender-based violence against women and girls, stressed that every case must be pursued to its logical conclusion without any negligence.

The cases of incidents involving Hina Javed, Ayat Noor, Asma Jattak, three-year-old Kulsoom Mohammed Qasim, 18-month-old Aizal in Karachi and a nine-year-old girl in Shikarpur, came under discussion.
