Pakistan, Aug. 20 -- The federal cabinet has approved amendments to the Defence Forces Act 2026 and the National Command Authority Act 2010. The decisions came during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.

The cabinet reviewed the country's political and security situation during the meeting. It also discussed proposed legislation and reviewed a Supreme Court decision concerning PTI founder Imran Khan.

According to government sources, the cabinet approved the draft Defence Forces Act 2026 and amendments to the National Command Authority Act 2010. Both draft laws will now be presented before parliament for approval.
