Pakistan, July 30 -- Foreign governments are increasing their efforts to silence dissidents in the UK, according to a new warning by British parliamentarians. A report by the Joint Committee on Human Rights revealed a sharp rise in transnational repression through online threats, lawsuits, and even physical violence.

Since 2022, MI5 has recorded a 48% rise in investigations into threats from foreign states. Committee chairman Lord David Alton said this trend poses a serious risk to the UK's ability to protect human rights, especially for those who fled to Britain for safety.
