Pakistan, July 23 -- Pakistan's nationwide monsoon death toll has risen to at least 65 after eight more people were killed in rain- and wind-related incidents across Punjab over the past 24 hours, officials said on Wednesday, as authorities warned of rising river levels and more heavy rainfall in the days ahead.
The latest fatalities came as the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) warned that the second spell of monsoon rains would continue until July 24, raising water levels in several rivers and increasing the risk of flooding.
