Pakistan, Nov. 8 -- Thomas Markle Sr, the estranged father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has been arrested in Florida in connection with allegations that he possessed child sexual abuse material.

Last month, reports emerged that Markle was under investigation by authorities in the Philippines over the alleged possession of such material.

Markle has denied the allegations, terming them as "sick lies". He was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: "I have never downloaded anything like that in my life."

A spokesperson for the Philippine National Police told CBS News that an investigation began after Markle's personal belongings were handed over to law enforcement authorities by his son, Thomas Markle Jr.
