Pakistan, Aug. 14 -- Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said riverine areas have become safer after decades of security challenges. She said the government aims to provide a safer Pakistan for future generations.

Addressing an Independence Day ceremony at the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, Maryam highlighted security improvements across the province. She said Safe City cameras now cover 43 Punjab cities.

The chief minister said the surveillance network is helping strengthen security beyond Lahore. She rejected claims that the provincial government was focusing only on the provincial capital.
