Pakistan, Aug. 12 -- Ukraine launched a major overnight attack on Russia's Novorossiysk naval base using sea drones, missiles and aerial drones.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the operation as unique and said it targeted Russia's key Black Sea naval stronghold.

Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces struck air defences, piers and other port infrastructure around Novorossiysk. The attack involved multiple types of weapons.

Russian authorities reported civilian casualties following the Ukrainian strikes across the Krasnodar region. An eight-year-old child was killed in Novorossiysk, while another civilian died in Temryuk.
