Pakistan, May 30 -- The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ruled that a husband is legally bound to fulfill commitments made to his wife in a separate marriage related agreement in addition to paying the dower (Haq Mehr) specified in the Nikahnama.

In a detailed 11-page judgment, Justice Muhammad Sajid Mahmood Sethi upheld a trial court's decision directing a husband to transfer a five-marla house to his wife, as promised in a separate agreement executed on the day of their marriage. The court dismissed the husband's plea seeking to overturn the trial court's verdict.
