Pakistan, Aug. 5 -- Lebanon Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has accused a group of trying to influence government decisions after pushing the country into previous conflicts. His remarks came in response to statements by Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem.

Salam said Hezbollah was attempting to link Lebanese state decisions with foreign agendas. He alleged that Lebanon had been pushed into unnecessary wars that benefited Israel.

The prime minister said those who put Lebanon at risk for external interests should not claim to defend national sovereignty. He stressed the importance of protecting independent state decision-making.
