Pakistan, Sept. 19 -- The death toll from the attack on Kohat Police Headquarters has reached 31. The casualties include 16 police personnel, while more than 100 people remain injured. Militants attacked the Old Police Lines complex in Kohat on Friday afternoon. Security forces continued fighting attackers inside the police compound on Saturday.

The complex houses the district police headquarters and several important police units. These include the Counter Terrorism Department and Special Branch offices. A senior police official confirmed the latest casualties to AFP. The official said several militants remained inside the Special Branch section.
