Pakistan, Aug. 1 -- Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has dismissed suggestions that Pakistan's current governance setup is nearing its end, saying there are no signs of the existing system collapsing and describing the prevailing "hybrid system" as a framework for correcting past mistakes.

Speaking on a television programme on Friday, Asif said he believed the current arrangement would continue and argued that cooperation among key state institutions was essential to addressing the country's political and economic challenges.
"I do not think that the present system will come to an end. The objective of the hybrid system is to correct mistakes committed in the past," he said.
