Pakistan, Oct. 8 -- Karachi's business community has raised alarms over a sharp increase in Karachi extortion cases. Trade and industrial groups demand immediate government action. They warn that fear and insecurity threaten investments, jobs, and economic activity in the city.

The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) and All City Traders Ittehad reported 96 extortion cases this year. District Central faced the highest number with 37, followed by West, East, City, Malir, and Korangi. Traders claim some threats involved bullets and intimidation.
