Pakistan, Oct. 28 -- An additional sessions judge on Tuesday declined to hear the interim bail petition of Ahmed Tanveer, an accused in the alleged rape case involving a foreign woman.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Riffaqat Ali Gondal recused himself from hearing the petition, preventing proceedings from taking place.

Advocate Safdar Shaheen Pirzada appeared on behalf of the accused. Subsequently, the defence counsel filed an application seeking exemption from personal appearance for Ahmed Tanveer.

The application stated that the court had granted interim bail to Tanveer in the alleged rape case, but he was arrested shortly after leaving the court premises.
