Pakistan, Oct. 28 -- An Additional District & Sessions Judge in Lahore recused himself from hearing the bail application of Ahmed Tanveer, a key suspect in the gang rape case of an Azerbaijani woman. Additional District & Sessions Judge Rafaqat Ali Gondal officially referred the legal matter to the Lahore High Court for further proceedings. Counsel for the suspect filed an application requesting an exemption from personal appearance for his client. Defense lawyer Safdar Shaheen Pirzada stated that the suspect's interim bail expired on October 27. However, the suspect could not appear because authorities arrested him in a separate case.
