Pakistan, Sept. 26 -- Jamaat-e-Islami has announced nationwide rallies and a signature campaign against the petroleum levy. Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said the party could launch a long march if the levy remains unresolved. He made the announcement during a press conference at Mansoorah on September 26. The move follows the party's ongoing protests over fuel-related costs.

Hafiz Naeem announced rallies in Charsadda, Swabi, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Larkana, Karak and Karachi. The party will also launch a nationwide signature campaign seeking withdrawal of the petroleum levy. Earlier, JI postponed its long march until the first week of October. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had requested more time for talks.
