Pakistan, Sept. 22 -- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman to postpone its planned Islamabad sit-in. The prime minister made the request during a telephone conversation on Tuesday, according to the Prime Minister's Office. Naeem said JI was considering the proposal after receiving assurances about relief for people.

Shehbaz said the government was providing relief on petroleum products during difficult economic conditions. He said the measures aimed to support economically vulnerable and middle-income groups. The prime minister also assured that the government would continue providing possible relief to the public.
