Pakistan, Sept. 19 -- Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has criticised the recent increase in petroleum prices, saying the government's Rs26 billion relief package is insufficient and was announced without proper planning or calculations.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Hafiz Naeem said the rising cost of petroleum products had placed the public under severe financial pressure. He alleged that the government was unwilling to provide meaningful relief to the people.

He said that although several issues had been agreed upon during negotiations with the government, the commitments had not been implemented. According to him, the Rs26 billion relief package was inadequate and the people needed genuine and effective relief. ...
